We would like to formally introduce the newest Greenwood Fire Department members. These fine gentlemen have been on board now for several weeks and have already invested many long hours of training with many more to come, sharpening their knowledge and skills. We are extremely pleased to have this group among us and we continue to welcome others that may be interested in giving back to our home town community. If your interested in volunteering, please stop in our Birney Avenue Fire Station to see us.

*Buddy Miller: Buddy is a electrician by trade at an area Health Care facility. He and his family are residents of Moosic. Buddy comes to us with a considerable mechanical knowledge. A great tool for our daily problem solving. He is gonna make a great Rescue guy. Don't tell Lieut Corey Allen.

*D.J. Megotz; DJ comes to us from outside of Moosic and has previous experience in the fire service. He is anxious to continue developing new skills and is interested in following the footsteps of both his father and uncle who are career firefighters. Both which had their start with Greenwood Fire, many years ago.

* Eric Skurka: Eric spent considerable time with the Moosic Hose Co. No. 1 years ago and also a short stint with the Hughestown Hose Co. He is self employed and again resides in Moosic. We are happy to have an old Moosic guy once again involved in the service

*Walt Dixon: Walt makes his living as a machinist in a local manufacturing facility. He and his family reside just a few blocks from the Fire Station. Walt like some of the others, has great mechanical skills and technical knowledge. A sure contributor.

*Zack Masewitz: Another Moosic resident, Zach works in the construction industry. He also has previous experience with the Old Forge Fire Department. We are not sure how is got past us that time? He is anxious to continue developing both his Engine and Rescue company skills.

*Alex Jaworski; Alex is a Senior at Riverside this year and is deeply involved in all aspects of the Riverside sports program. He along with some of our current members are sure to contribute to not only our firefighting abilities but also our softball team. Alex was part of the recent Greenwood Team that won the Fire Fighter division of the Duryea Fire Department softball tournament.

*Zach Torba; Another Moosic resident and yet another that is following in the footsteps of his father. Zach's dad Robert, was with Greenwood Fire Department at one time. Zach is currently attending Keystone College working on a Criminal Justice degree.

*Mike Evanusa: Mike is also a Moosic resident and makes his living as an Automobile Technician. Yet another talented mechanical guy that will fit right into the mix of eclectic people we have here at Greenwood.

Congratulations to two of Greenwood Fire's young members. Ryan Semyon and Alex Jaworski, both were part of the winning charge last evening when Riverside beat Mid Valley 17-16 to win the RailRiders Bowl at PNC Field. It's OFFICIAL, WVIA TV will be producing their 40th "OUR TOWN MOOSIC" documentary, due to air in April of 2020. The 1 hour documentary specifically related to Moosic past, present and future will contain some fascinating information about our home town. The Fire Department is super pumped to be part of this event. Many excerpts of our 119 year history along with the 107 year history of the Moosic Hose Co. No. 1 will be provided. If anyone wishes to be part of future information gathering events, or hold any written, photo'd or personal material items about, or related to the long history of Moosic, please send us a message here on our Facebook page.
